Cornball

Jason has enjoyed taking showers lately. I have put up the shower head so that he could see what it was like. He loves it so far.
What a cornball. I was trying to take a picture with him in his booster seat. I have been letting him sit next to us at dinner. He really has been enjoying it.
Anyways what I didn't realize was that there was a shiny pot that he was making faces in. Silly kid.

So one of the sweetest things happened yesterday. There was a knock on the door and I answered it. It was a kid from our primary class. Earlier in the day he had herd on the radio that there was a tournament at Solitude this weekend. He came over with a piece of paper to give to Brother Wu. He wrote down that it was this Saturday, was 5 dollars for a lift ticket, and that there were going to be real professionals there. How cute was that. He went out of his way to let Will know about it. He thought that Will would be interested (he is, but it is Saturday and Sunday).

Baylee

Here are the pictures I promised. What a cute little girl.

Will's Entry: Explanation

Well, here's the explanation, though it probably won't make me any less weird. Our work makes us change passwords multiple times a year. They have to be over 9 characters and include letters, numbers, AND punctuation. I've completely used up all the easy-to-remember ones so I thought music would be the way to go. Using certain keys, I've put them to the music of:
"Mama's little baby loves shortnin', shortnin"
I don't actually do the entire song . . .

Little didy

Last night I wanted to use Will's lap top. Not un heard of. He did how ever change his password the day before and could not remember what it was. He is a little strange and pretended the keyboard was a piano, played a song, and that is his password. What the heck. He could not remember the song for the life of him.

I got out of him that it is a kids song. Yeah so I am listing off tons of songs that I sing to Jason and finally after trying for 30 min or so he finally gets the song. It is called Shortnin' Bread. Mickie and Suzanne you would know the song from the Chip and Dale cartoon with the pancakes. Well in case you all are interested here are the lyrics. What a dumb song.

Put on the skillet, put on the lead
Mama's gonna make a little shortnin' bread
That ain't all that she's gonna do
she's gonna make a little coffee, too

Mama's little baby loves shortnin', shortnin'
Mama's little baby loves shortnin' bread
Mama's little baby loves shortnin', shortnin'
Mama's little baby loves shortnin' bread

Three little children, lying in bed
two was sick, the other 'most dead
Send for the doctor, the doctor said:
give them just some shortnin' bread

Mama's little baby ...
Put on the skillet ...
Mama's little baby ...

When them children, sick in bed
heard that talk about shortnin' bread
Popped up well and dance and sing
I get by 'round, got to be
Mama's little baby ...

Late start

Will gave me the usual kiss good bye for work, while I was in bed. I fell back asleep. When I woke up I looked at the clock and it said 9:00. What are you serious? I went into Jason's room and he was just starting to wake up. No way. What is up with our kid? I wonder if he is feeling ok. He seems normal to me... My alarm clock is broken.

Last night Will and I hit up the smith's sale. They had chunky soups on sale for $0.66. That is a really good deal if you eat caned soups. Will likes to eat them when he doesn't have any left overs from the night before. They also had prego spaghetti sauce on sale for the same price. How exciting. We stocked up for the winter on both.

Because of the sale, I was a little late for my cooking class at Maceys. Oh man that was a packed class. I was sitting at the door. There were about 70 people there. Crazy I know. It was a class on freezing meals. I think I will start doing that more often along with freezing cookie doughs, and muffins. Well the class was how to cook for 2 days and not for the rest of the month. So you make a months full of meals, freeze them and then you just have to warm them up to eat. I don't think I will do that, but I did get some great ideas from the class. They showed you how to shop and prepare for the big cooking day and it looked pretty simple. It really is just a plan a head kinda thing (which I am terrible at).

Baylee Kay Bragg

Yes she was finally born after 3 weeks of Britany being in labor. She was just born 20 or so mins ago at about 2:45 PM. HD said that she looks healthy and weighs 6 lb 6 oz.

Jason has his first cousin... Now hopefully I don't have as much problems as Britany did. Hopefully HD will send pictures, but I don't think that is at the top of his list.

Mini-golfing

Labor day Matt, Mickie, Will, Jason, and I went Frisbee golfing like usual and then we headed out for dinner at red robin. It was a pretty good day.

Where was Suzanne you ask? Well she was set up on a blind date with a co-workers brother (or something like that). She said that the date went pretty well. They went to a Bee's game and then out to Wendy's for dinner. She said she would hang out with him again. I was trying to be sneaky with the camera and take a picture of him, but I was to slow. So you get a picture of him threw the blinds. Hey at least he was smiling when he walked around the car.

This is Jason's new hiding spot. When he knows he should not have something, like dad's wallet, he hides here.

Here is a picture of the huge slide that Jason likes to go on. I am surprised that he goes on it all by himself. Look how tall this thing is.

He did have fun at the park last night, but there were some big kids playing tag there, so it was a little harder for him to get around. Jason and Will are going to hit up a different park tonight while I am in a cooking class on freezing meals.

Game Day

Saturday morning started of pretty well. I got up to the sound of my alarm clock known as Jason. He is so reliable, he is up with in 15 min of 8 am. He did how ever sleep in for me on Monday. He sleep till 8:45. Yeah I know it was amazing!

I made breakfast for every one. I have to say I really like that vanilla syrup. I made a little extra so that I could have pancakes later. We pretty much just hung out until the opening BYU football game started. Oh no I was mistaken, my dad and his friends went to Cabela's. They got up early and headed over so that my dad could spend his Christmas/birthday/father's day gift (haha it was the $150 gift certificate that Will won at his work party). He was pretty excited to show us all what he got. He bought some rain gear. I guess he had been wanting some good rain gear for a while. Well at least he found last year model and bought it for a good 35% off the regular price. Way to find the sale dad.

I think we get our dorkyness from my dad. What do you think...

We had Travis watch Jason while we went to the football game. It is nice that we have family here that we can have watch Jason. It is so nice to be able to relax and watch the game with out worrying about kids. Our seats were the best we will get for the season. We were 5 rows up from the field. Pretty nice...

Touch down!!!

Dang, we missed the extra point.

Nice throw.

After words we all meet up for dinner at Tucanos. I love that place. Jason was pretty tired, so I spent most of dinner walking around with him so that he would not throw a fit. It was a good thing that I had already eaten dinner.

We then said bye to my parents and sent them off to Peru. It is still weird to think that they are there visiting my grandparets this weekend. I wonder if they were able to recover from the earthquake down there quickly.?.?

Anyways, we hung out with Colton for a while on Sunday and then he went home. So it was pretty boring after that. We did take a walk and picked some peaches off of some of our neighbors trees. Man, if we did not have so many trees in our back yard already, I would totally plant a peach tree. They were so good!

Spa Night

Ok I have tons of pictures and not enough patience to load them all right now, so I will just show pictures from the spa party right now.
Mickie and Suzanne put on a spa party at her house... We played around with some of Bobbie's Mary Kay samples and Suzanne painted all of our toes. Can you tell what was going to happen the next day? Humm there are a lot of BYU toes. You can't miss them. (Side note, there was one out cast who got her toes painted for the Utes).
The boys (Jason and Parker) got into the spa party as well. If the dads only knew. Parker ended up with painted finger nails and toe nails (hence the little feet in the above picture). Jason ended up putting make-up on and was the make-up artist for Suzanne. He was pretty concentrated on in.
Before... Yeah it really does look like a mug shot.
After... Yes she forgot to put on foundation, so she is a little shiny. Linda did a little photo shot with my mom. Some of the pictures are pretty scary. I will save you all by only putting up one picture.
Mickies transformation was a little more scary. Ok maybe not that dark lipstick on my mom looks pretty horrible.
Putting on make-up...
BOO. It looks like she went back in time a decade or too.
All in all we had a great time hanging out and playing around.

Zoo/Hair

Yesterday was a great day out at the Zoo. I went stir crazy the day before, so going out with Steph and the boys for the day was a great relief of stress. It was super hot, but the zoo does a pretty good job of providing shade for the people. It was also nice that they had misters randomly through the park.

Here are a bunch of random pictures that I took at the Zoo...

I think he has to grow just a little bit more...

Here we are on the train. It was a really fast moving train. It was pretty funny, but it was nice to cool off.

The giant egg, du du duhhhh.

I think every little kid likes playing with the big ball.

Jason got no nap yesterday, so he was exhausted when we went over to Matt and Mickie's.

Mickie dyed Suzanne and my hair last night. I think it looks good. It is nice that I have a sister willing to do my hair.

Jason felt a little left out when she was putting foil in our hair, so we put foil on him as well. HE was so funny. He loved it. What am I doing to my kid (make-up, hair, shoes, oh no!!) Maybe he hangs out with me a little to much.

Well at least he is learning how to play the guitar from his uncle Matt. That is pretty manly right?

Will's Entry: Where was I?

Well, it looks like it's up to me to hold up the blogging fort. Kristin should be having a fun time with Steph and the boys at the zoo. I like to see otters - just thought I'd mention that.

Warning: The rest of this is more for me than anything else. It may give some of you more insight into why I'm the way that I am.

Last weekend at the TNI party I ran into an old, old friend - Jerry Hughes! For the rest of this to be relevent, I'll have to give a little background. Growing up, there was probably 5 or 6 of us in my grade. I was always the youngest and smallest by far. Yes, I was picked on, though I didn't really mind. (My scoutmasters would always ask why I'd volunteer and let them tie me up. For Bryan Regan fans: It was kind of like "backseat on the hump". If it was going to happen anyway, one might as well go along with it.)

Well, high school hit and things changed - not for the better. A lot of the group went wayward as far as church, drugs, and such were concerned. That's basically why I can't say that I had many Member friends in high school.

If there were anyone I would want to see from my growing-up days it would have been Jerry. He was always the de-facto leader of our grade and the cool one. He didn't get mixed up with bad stuff as he was more distracted with Volleyball and other sports. I always found it odd that the only 2 from our group to "make it" were the little nerd (me) and Jerry.

Running into him the other day only confirmed something that I've realized the last couple years. I'm lucky to be who I am! It's the weirdest thing for me to be thinking that. I grew up thinking "I wish I was a little bit taller - I wish I was a baller - I wish I had a girl who looked good I would call her". I wanted to be anyone besides me. (Sad but true: I actually analyzed what a nerd does so I could stop being so nerdy. Kind of an oxymoron or something like that & YES, I still have latent nerdy tendencies - but I've learned to live with them)

Now I have a Bee-UUU-tiful wife, I have my health (very few people I used to know are as physically fit as the old days), heck I'm just glad that I'm still holding my own playing basketball and not sitting out with bad knees, back, and such. I love my life and am finally very appreciative of it.

On a lighter note, we exchanged numbers and hopefully we'll have dinner sometime. He has 2 kids with one around Jason's age. I think it would be fun for us. Hopefully our wives (did I mention how cute Kristin is?) will understand and we won't talk too much about the old days.

Shoes

They even match his outfit...

Huuuu??

If you look close enough you can see that I picked up all of our All sports passes yesterday!! I am so excited to start going to the BYU games. It should be fun. Now don't look to close at me. I just woke up 15 min before, had time to throw on some clothes, and then when I went down stairs Will had already started driving out of the drive way. He didn't say good bye, give me a kiss, or any thing. I was really frazzled. As I walked to the door and opened it he was already running inside to give me a kiss. How sweet. That would have been weird if he just left. So not the usual routine.

Last night I went to a class on feeding a crowd. It was really interesting some of the tips that she gave us. This lady has 12 kids and now that they are mostly grown up they have over the in-laws. Every Sunday she cooks dinner for over 30 people. Holy cow that is a lot of people, and that is just some of the people that show. The recipes that she made were taco soup (I usually don't like stuff like that, but it turned out really good. I am thinking that it is the pregnancy.), an apricot drink with pineapple sherbet in it (very good, and yes I blame the pregnancy again.), and the last thing was chicken salad from cafe rio. I loved all the recipes. I probably will post them later when I feel like it.

Travis came over and did laundry last night. We hung out while Will played basketball. I am glad that he has a sport that he can play every week to entertain him. It is nice to have something in the week to look forward to. I think that's why I enjoy going to my classes so much. I can get out of the house and away from Jason for a while.

Oh and I almost forgot, yesterday Steph, the boys, and I went to see Surf's Up. It was during Jason's nap, so I was not able to watch it all, but what I did see was cute. I ended up standing in the very back for most of the movie holding a fussy Jason. I think that he would have liked the movie a lot more if he was not so tired. I think we will try and watch it again another day.

Fat Lip

On Sunday I forgot to mention, that we took Jason into nursery and when we picked him up he had a fat lip. I didn't notice it till we were gone. I wonder what happened. Will and I like to think that the other kid (if there even was another kid, ok he probably fell) got a black eye from it. We are such dorks.

So here are pictures of Mickie on the slide from the park on Sunday. How do you angle your neck at that position. It was a weird position.
Doesn't she look like my mom in this one a little?
Last night Will and I chilled at home. I was trying to catch up on the magazines that I have not read (which is a ton). I came across this and was thoroughly disgusted. "The miraculous moment when my body became my daughter's gateway to the world..." Are you kidding me? Have you ever seen a birth or given birth. That is nasty. It is not a very pleasant experience, but it has a good out come.

They like us...

Will and I hosted a church class party on Friday night. It turned out so well. We only had one girl not show up. They all get along really well together. I don't know why I attempted to plan games for the party, they have enough ideas and energy to entertain themselves.

We ended up playing Mafia, my birds a pretty bird (Teens and spray bottles are not the best idea. I think that we all got a little wetter then expected. They really got a kick out of spraying me in the face though.), disc golfing, and with Jason's toys. Who knew that, that silly ball popper would entertain teens as well.

One of the girls ankles started to bleed and she got it all over the couch. Thank goodness for microfiber. I just wiped it all up real fast, and we were on to more games.

I knew that we would not be able to handle them for to much time, so I told them that it was going to be and hour and a half. It was pretty cool seeing the kids how they normally act and not have to quiet them down at church all the time. I am the "Hey quiet down" person and I thought they didn't like us. I was wrong. On Friday night at 11:53 we were ding-dong-ditched. I heard a "Run guys" and knew exactly who's voice it was and he was from our class. Wahoo. they like us. Watch now they give us different callings once we are starting to feel comfortable in this calling.
