Will's Surprise Entry: A Special Report

Well, everyone else has apologized for not being on their "usual" blogging schedule. I guess I will since I haven't blogged since my wife and Jason last abandoned me (Baylee's early days). I'm not dead as anyone who has seen the pictures can attest to.

1st things 1st - It's really no trouble watching "The Boys". I just imagine another Parker (how did Kay do it?) and I don't feel stressed anymore.

So the reason for this post - I LOVE DISC GOLF. From here on out, it's going to read more like a journal entry than anything.

It was the late spring or early summer of 05 (Kristin and I aren't sure on the year, but I'd bet Katy could correct me) and we went to Katy and Chad's wedding. Can't say that I really knew Art or Steph very well. Art mentioned something about disc golf and how we should throw his discs around. I've been throwing around frisbees since I was a little kid so that sounded really fun. I suppose I have Tracie to thank too, since I remember throwing them in the back yard with her. I also think I get a little credit for her above-girl-average hand-eye coordination when it comes to throwing and catching things.

Needless to say, I was pretty excited. Not only am I usually up for new things, but a co-worker had mentioned it a long time ago and I had been intrigued. Art, I think you're my favorite guy-cousin of Kristin's but I will admit that I was crushed that day when we never got to try it out. Kristin knows how excited I get over stupid little things. I remember just hanging around the wedding festivities so we'd get the chance.

Oh well, we got together another time with Ray too and I got my first chance at the game. For those who haven't played, it's a little difficult at first to get used to the flight pattern and throwing in general. I look back now and trees and ponds that I was scared to death about are less intimidating than a midget to Shaq. That 1st day I began to get the hang of it and I was hooked.

A void had been in my life since leaving BYU. I really miss playing pick-up basketball. I'd play 2 or 3 times a week and I missed having something to look forward to. This was something to replace that and it didn't hurt that I was doing it with Kristin's extended family. Plus, walking around in the park was something that Kristin wasn't opposed to and it was good for all of us in general. Nowadays, it's a little harder now that we have to account for little ones, but it's still worth it.

So today I have more discs than I can count, 2 baskets in my backyard and my dreambag (we played today at lunch and it was FANTASTIC, honestly added years to my career - I'm not kidding!) Teaching Matt has been a blast and I'm excited that Art's returning from Mexico. I consider myself a student of Art and I think my student could blow us both away on any given day. I definitely don't need tournaments, but they always add a bit to the fun. I'm just happy that I don't embarass myself. And new courses? Boy, they're my favorite thing in the world. You could get me to go to Antarctica (yes they supposedly have a course).

Well I thought that this entry was a few years in the making. And though I hate the word usually, I'll say it "I LOVE FROLFING!!!"

Will that is wonderful... I am glad you shared your passion for frolf with my hubby and myself even!

I will have to admit that I prefer the game of throw as oppose to catch. Not a huge fan of catching death spirals.

Wow...that was such an entry. I am wondering if your wife needs to know you are having an affair on her with your frolfing...oops that sounded dirty. Oh well...I'm telling, I'm telling.

I swell with pride when we play catch in the street and Tracie launches a perfect spiral. Thanks Will!!
