New video

That is pretty good for being a camera! Jason learned how to blow bubbles on the computer. Like I said, weird kid!

I've Been Taged

I’m it.
Here are the rules:

THE RULES: Each player of this game starts with the ‘7 weird things about you.’ People who get tagged need to write a blog of their own 7 weird things as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose 7 people to be tagged and list their names. Don’t forget to leave a comment that says ‘you are tagged’ in their comments and tell them to read your blog.

All of those who don't have a blog, you lucked out that I can't tag you!

1. I can't have anything in or on my eyes, even water. In the shower I have a hook where I can hang my towel. After I get my face wet I always have to wipe my eyes.

2. Eyes again. When I close my eyes they flutter spastically. I don't mean to, but they just move.

3. At night time my back has to be completely tucked in. I hate having any air on my back.

4. I liked to eat cat food when I was younger, the dry stuff. I would sneak it from my grandma's cat bowl. It was salty, what can I say.

5. I have very distinct facial expressions when I eat something that I don't like. Will gives me stuff just to see the reaction. I just can't help it. I also make the same face when I am full and tried to get that last bit in my stomach. I end up spitting it out, even if it is the best thing in the world.

6. I still have same shirt from 7th grade and i wear it. Will hates it!

7. I got my licence when I was 18 and I still don't like to drive. When I have to go some where I ask the other person to drive sometimes. Poor Steph, yes I know it was weird driving our car. I did drive the car back home again.

8. Yes I added an eighth. I have since corrected it but I nodded backwards to the beet. Every one would nod forward, but my head would be back. I think it might have been genetic, because Jason does it now. Poor kid got passed some weird genes.

Okay, now for the tagging part. I tag:
Kelly
Kristi
Troy and Tracie

New Camera

We went with a new camera instead of a camcorder. We went with a more expensive one, but that didn't matter to us, because we still had gift certificates to Costco from Wills work party. From the few hours that I have been playing around with it, and yes I read the full user manual (nerd I know), I like it. The only down fall to the camera that I see is the compression on the videos that it takes. With the current card that I have in there (512 MB), it only takes 5 minutes and 30 seconds of video. I think we will have to end up buying a 2 GB card which takes 22 m 40 s of video.

Talking to Will now. "More money Will, yes I know, but it will be worth it. No we won't get the card until I am positive that this is the camera that I want."

Talking the the blog readers. Whisper- "This is the camera I want!"

Hugs

I love Jason hugs!

Sweet Boy

Last night Will and I were out shopping for either a new camera that takes better video then what we have now, or a camcorder. We still have not decided what to do. On one hand it would be nice to have a better digital camera with a faster recovery time, but we want to be able to take better quality videos now that we have a DVD recorder. But it is all a mess because if we buy a camcorder, then we will have to buy a DVD player for the computer so I can put stuff on the blog. So on and so on.

In our family we don't like to have wet open mouth baby kisses, so we give bonks (you know like in Finding Nemo). Anyways we were in the store and it was getting close to Jason's bed time. He was really getting tired of shopping so I picked him up. He gave me a big hug, held my face a gave me a bonk, he rested his forehead up against mine for a minute or so. It was the sweetest thing in the world. These are the times that make me melt and I know that having Jason has all been worth it.

Walking

Jason is now into everything and walking everywhere. I am excited that he can now walk. What a fun kid.
Will and I now teach the 11-12 year olds at church and well Jason is very disruptive. We don't mind so much during our lesson, but during sharing time it is embarrassing. I had enough, so I took him to nursery. He loved it. He is 4 1/2 months shy of being in there permanently. I can't wait. I brought him in and off he went.

He is a lot smaller then the other kids, but he can take the beatings. Some kid (2 1/2 years) pegged him in the head with a nerf ball (how hard could it have really been?) and he didn't even flinch. He just stared at the kid and went on playing. I will start taking him in there for the last hour of church and hopefully will be able to leave him in there alone in a month or two.

If I am in the kitchen, I know exactly where to find Jason.

Parenting class

I decided that like many of you I was going stir crazy in the house, so I called up Steph and asked her if she would like to go to a PBS/BYU class held at our local grocery store. It was so nice to get out of the house with out the kids. Although I was on the phone with Mickie ordering cloths when she came, so I made Steph drive our car there. I am horrible at talking on a phone and driving at the same time, so I just don't do it.

Art had to work, so Will graciously offered to watch the kids. It was great. Parker loved playing with Jason's toys, Jason loved playing with Parker, and Brighton loved following them around. I think we will have to do it again. Plus the class gives you free children's books (who doesn't love a free book).

Quilt

I must have been crazy when I chose this pattern. I have never made a quilt so hard in my life. Ok well the only quilts i have made are square blocks, so of course this is hard. This one square took me 45 min. Hopefully I will get faster as I sew more. 1 down 80 to go. Yikes! I don't think I will ever finish.

I know kids go throw a stage where they have the "gimmies," but Jason is in a stage right now where he has the "give yous." He has to give me every thing. While I am typing this I swear I have the whole alphabet in toy animals on my lap right now. What a sweet kid.

He has been battling something for the last day. He woke up last night several times, tossing and turning. I finally went in when he started to cry the hundredth time he got up last night. I picked him up and he was burning. I gave him some Tylenol and he is feeling a lot better today. I have never felt some one so hot before, it was crazy. His fever has broke, and he is back to his normal giving self. "Thank you"

Surprise Entry: Dreams

It's the last bit of work and I'm pretty bored. Astonishingly, I've caught up to everything in my Task list and can't remember what I used to do before in my spare time.
Anyway, here's the weird thing about my dreams. Often I "wake up" from my dream, analyze it and sometimes tell it to others. After that is fairly random, but then I wake up AGAIN from my dream. Yes, I tell people about my dream and contemplate them WHILE DREAMING!!! It's the most bizarre thing and I kill brain cells when I wake up confused and get along with my day. Funny Fact: This is a Calvin and Hobbes phenomenon where Calvin dreams about getting ready for the day and then wakes up.

Disc Golf?

Will has been Disc Golfing in his dreams again. He is obsessed with the sport. I know he hasn't been in a while, but come on are you really dreaming about it. The funniest thing is in his dream, he made up a course and now this is the second time he has gone. He says that in his dream this course is in California. Who makes up disc golf courses in their dreams and plays the same course in 2 separate dreams. Now that is just CRAZY. (I love you Will)

Poll

I think that the non-gagers have the lead in the poll. I am just going to chalk this one up as a win for me, sorry Will. I think that gaging under stress is inherent. Both Jason and Will do it, how interesting. And yes they are the 2 people who votes yes. We decided that Jason should have a say in our little poll. Yes I know what a weird subject, but Will said that it was normal and I don't think so. Thanks to all those people who voted.

We did watch Heroes yesterday. Both Will and I agreed that the break was way to long. When we watched the show we had forgotten what had happened. I hope it doesn't happen with the rest of our shows.
Here are the many faces of Jason...

Gag

Jason gags when he is under stress. This has lead Will and I into a debate. Please help us resolve the issue by voting. It is on the right hand side.

DVD Recorder

Will has been wanting me to put that story in the blog for a long time. So that it would end up in the journal. I am glad he finally did it.

What a great weekend we had. Friday night was spent hanging out with Paul and Mieka. They were baby sitting their nephews that are 3 years and 18 months. Jason loved playing with them. He didn't want to be left out so he walked every where. Once they start, they learn to walk really fast.

Saturday we bought a DVD recorder from Matt and Mickie. It doesn't record DVD to DVD because of a decoding signal, so that is a bummer. We could buy an unscrambler, but that would cost another 80 buck. I am still debating on whether or not to get one. I probably annoyed every one trying to figure it out. Thanks for putting up with me.

We now know that we can't take Jason to movies any more. I think we are going to have to switch off nights with Art and Steph. The kids love playing with each other anyways. We went to see Deja Vu. Poor Will sat in the hall the whole time. We will have to go rent it. I think he would enjoy it. It was fascinating.

That night we also went out to eat a Carrabas. My mom won a gift certificate there and we split it between us and Matt and Mickie. The food was pretty pricey, but it was good. The service was really good too. I ordered a ravioli. I ate one bite and it was nasty. The waitress came over and asked if the food was good. I said "No, I don't like it." She then asked if they could switch it for a different dish. It was great. They had the new dish out with in 5 min. I didn't know that you could switch the dish. I guess it is a standard. If you don't like something all you have to do is tell them and they will get you something else. Maybe I will be a little more daring now.

Sunday was a fun night hanging out with the Maxwells. We always love going over watching TV and talking. It sounds like every one is doing well over there. Steph started a blog, so now we can keep up with their lives as well. There is a link on the side. I love being able to keep in touch.

Surprise Entry: It's coming back

We're excited . . . Heroes will be back on tonight. Hopefully the long layoff won't lead to a letdown! If anyone's wondering, Kristin and I are getting a lot better at teaching our Primary class. I imagine we'll keep improving.
One last thing: We keep this blog as a "journal" so many of you have heard this story so I apologize if you've heard it before.
This is my favorite Primary story.
I was in between songs and just listening to the lesson. There's this little cute girl, probably 7 yrs old and she's licking the back of her forearm (backarm?). Anyway, she looks like a cat cleaning herself. I wonder what she's doing and then I see it! She's got a runny nose and she's wiping it the length of her forearm and then licking it off!!!! It was so funny and I think I'll be use that memory for a good laugh for the rest of my life.

They're done

Yes I know that I don't usually post things on Saturdays, but the pictures are done. If you want to see our pictures go to

handsomeprints.net/wu

I love the way most of them turned out. I never realized how hard it was to make a kid smile and get everyone else to look good as well. Crazy.

If you want to see the whole family, then email my mom or I.

They're almost done

While we were in Oregon my mom wanted to get some family pictures done. Will and I decided to get some done as well. I am so excited the pictures are almost done. Trina said ours should be off in the mail any day now. That picture of Jason is just a teaser or a snackeral as Mickie calls it. Now that I have been teased I want to see them all. What a funny kid!

I love how Trina does pictures. She charges you the initial fee, then she edits them, prints off 24 proofs, puts them on a web page so family members can see them, and sends you a CD with all your pictures on it. You can then go get the ones you want printed off. How fun our first family picture. It only took a year haha.

Church ball

It is once again time for church basketball. Yesterday was Will's first game. They won. I wish I was able to watch, but the game was at 10. Last year it was no problem, I could just take a baby Jason and he would sleep through it, but now he would stay up and then I would just have to deal with a grumpy kid in the morning. I can always tell when Jason doesn't get enough sleep. I am pleased to tell all that he did get a good night sleep and is a happy kid today.

The nights have been a little boring with all the TV shows on break. I am glad that they are starting up in the next week or so. Holly we didn't really watch American Idol, but we did see the 2 friends that meet in line. He really did look like a bush baby. Poor guy.

SALE

Old Navy is having a sale. All of their clearance stuff is half off the lowest price this week. We got Will some kacki's and some cargo's for 7 bucks each. We are super excited. It was pretty cleared out, but you might want to check your store, they might have more stuff still.

Shedaisey

Jason loves this song...

Surprise Weekend Edition

This is Will again. Kristin said she'd mention a key part of our weekend but seems to have forgotten. Right before the volleyball game on Saturday, we had Brocolli Cheese soup and _______ Noodle Soup. Does it look like something was missing? Yep, we forgot the Chicken. It tasted alright and considering we missed another key ingredient on the Brocolli soup (flour), it's surprising that we actually enjoyed dinner. Oh well, that's all.

ipod

Yesterday I was suppose to tell all that Jason is listening to Matts ipod. It was so funny that he actually enjoyed listening to it.

I let Jason try and feed himself yesterday. It was a challenge. I think he got more food on himself then in. He loved it. What a funny kid.

The phone call

Friday we got a call from HD asking if they could come down for the weekend. I said sure, and that night they were here. It was a fun weekend and I am sure glad that they were able to come.

Friday we watched a gymnastics meet, and part of a volley ball game, then Saturday we watched a volleyball game. It was crazy they wouldn't let people in it was so packed. Luckily we got in just in time. The men's volleyball team won. It was a pretty good game. All though I was a worried about Jason the whole time so i wasn't able to have as much fun at the game as i would have liked.

Jason got hives. It was the weirdest thing. They would show up and disappeared as soon as we noticed him. The only thing that I can think of that changed was the other day Will and I gave Jason clam chowder. I guess he is allergic to clams. How sad for him. We will try giving him some more soup in a few weeks to see if that is the cause.

Other then that HD wants to Jason to be a football player when he gets bigger.

Sunday night was a fun night of games. We played taboo, which the guys won and then we played the newly wed game. Ok that was funny to watch. You can tell how long people were married. If Will and I got a question wrong it was a "hu i thought it was___, oh well." Matt and Mickie would do they same, but some times there was a "No, What?" And HD and Britany were just funny. They were a "I can't believe you got that wrong, its ___. " In the end HD and Britany were the winners of the newly wed game. I don't think Matt had any to terribly funny answers this time.

Yes Matt was having fun with Jason.

Novicane and Laughing Gas

Will and I got our teeth filled yesterday. I was pretty scared. I have not had a cavity in 5 years and after having Jason my teeth went down hill fast. I procrastinated going to the dentist because I knew I had a cavity. Well I had 3. So you can see how i would be nervous. So we got in there and I asked for laughing gas. Oh man that stuff made it a lot easier to get my teeth drilled. They gave me an ipod, turned it up, I closed my eyes, and focused on the music. I would definitely recommend the gas to anyone who is the least bit scared.

The after words was the problem. I was told that I let the tooth go so long that I have a 50% chance of having to have a root canal on one of the teeth he just filled. I am hoping that I am the 50% chance that I don't have to have one. He gave me his cell number and told me to call if it was to painful. So far I am ok. I hope it stays that way.

The other bad part is the weird face after you are numb. Both sides of my face were numb and well I looked retarded. When this picture was taken I was smiling and laughing. How sad was that. I didn't know that I looked that bad. If I did, then i wouldn't have gone to Wal-mart. I probably scared so many people.

Enjoy the picture! I had an elvis lip going the whole time.

Standing

Jason can stand up all by himself. He has practised it a lot this morning so i figure he is a pro by now. The walking is still only 3-4 steps. So things are right on schedule.

Last night Will and I went and saw BYU slaughter TCU at basketball. This year we have a pretty good team, even if we did just kick off a pretty good player.

Well here are pictures of when we went 4 wheeling...
It was so cold we had 2 jackets on Jason.
Some of the gang.

Broken Jar

I guess I can expect a lot more of my things being broken by kids. Jason broke my glass candy jar last night. He was not hurt, but it took a lot of vacuuming to clean it all up. The carpet has never been cleaner.

Other then that yesterday was one of the best days with Jason. He got a hair cut and now looks even older. He also didn't complain at all. It was wonderful. What a good day.

Here are pictures from science works in Oregon. Jason loved the funny mirrors.

I am pulling my self up with levies.

And Suzanne is moving by the motion of the spinning wheel. I love these kinds of places.

Tantrum

Jason through his first tantrum yesterday. I was playing the piano with him and I was finished playing (it was 20 min of playing and i was tired of holding him). So Will put him on the ground, we turned it off and thats when he started to cry. He looked at us, sat down, laid down, then screamed. It was pretty amusing. He would look up at us every once in a while to make sure we got the point. Silly kid. He has done it a few times since then.

He is still only taking 3-5 steps at a time. He is getting a little more daring.

Yes it is an outlet protecter in his mouth.

Christmas morning.

When we got to Matt and Mickie's house after driving from Oregon. There house was freezing, so Mickie wrapped Jason up. He loved it and stayed in the blankets untill we left for our house.

Medicine

Will and I have been called to teach the 11 turning 12 year olds. Yesterday was our first Sunday. You know its not going to go well when the most hyper kid in the class's mother calls you over and tells you that her son forgot to take his medicine today. Needless to say the class didn't go very smooth.

Now i remember why i don't give speeches, talks, or publicly speak. I sure hope it gets better. If there are any ideas to keep this kid in line it would be appreciated. I am at a loss for what to do.

Friday Matt and Mickie came over. We hung out as usual, they wouldn't play mah jong with me :( But it was fun none the less. We also watched BYU kill San Diego in basketball. Go cougars! What a fun weekend.

Oh and the best part is that church is now at 11. Hurray!! It is good for Will and I, but It is during Jason's nap. We will have to figure something out. It does make Sundays feel longer. By 7 we were bored stiff. We aren't use to that much time on Sundays...

More video

Here is more walking...

Walking

Here is a lighter video of Jason "walking." I swear that youtube makes everything darker. I could see the other video just fine, but the problem is when I transfer it. Oh well...

Daring

Yes you saw it here first. Jason took 3 or 4 steps. I was so happy to catch it on video. He has done this a few times today. Colton thanks for teaching him :)

Beeping

I forgot to tell all about our mysterious beeping. Last night during dinner we heard this weird noise like one of Jason's toys going off. We could not figure out what was making that noise. It stopped, but every 5 min it would beep. It was driving us nuts. We could hear it through out the whole house. Finally i got fed up with it and we each stood in different rooms to try and find where it was coming from.

We found out that it was coming from the bedroom. Yes it takes me a while to unpack, so I was tearing a part the dirty clothes when it went off again. It was Will's cell phone. Woops. We haven't had it for very long, but that would explain why the sound was familiar.

Set

Set, set, set. That is all Will and I have on the brain these days. We learned how to play it in Oregon and have been playing ever since. I guess it is the kind of people that we are. It is a matching game on steroids. You have to get 3 matches, but you have to match color, shape, shade, and number. It is quite interesting.

http://www.reed.edu/~mcphailb/applets/set/

It is very simple to learn, but hard to master. It is nice that Will and I are on the same skill level. Usually he creams me in all the games we play, but this one.

I coaxed Jason into taking another step last night. I held out a piece of chocolate and he walked a step for me. The kid loves sweets what can I say.

No more getting bit!

We went to the store last night (yes exciting) and we bought Jason a tooth brush. No more with the putting the thing on your finger and getting bit. Now he can bite the tooth brush (it matched so we had to get it).

Here is an email from my mom. I guess i better set it up first. We went to the Rough Valley Family Fun Center (rvffc) where Mickie use to work. Colton just got laid off because he was not old enough to work at the company who took over Coplands. Colton was wearing a RVFFC sweatshirt and filled out an application (well Mickie filled it out).

Well....Colton has a new job at the Rogue Valley Family Fun Center. He said it really wasn't much of an interview yesterday. He said one of the girls that worked there, said that Mickie is still talked about as one of the best employees. Good job, Mickie! Colton starts this afternoon getting all the paperwork done, and picking up shirts and schedule.

Robbie, his boss told him he can't wear Mickie's RVFFC sweat shirt while he's not at work. He told him that was his only sweatshirt, so he has to buy another sweatshirt. He'll be making more than at Copeland's too. So it all worked out perfect, he was only out of a job for about a week and a half. It was just enough time to play with all his family during Christmas!

I laughed when I read what Will wrote back in response!

Good job Colton. What a stroke of genius Harvey had in changing the day we went!

Personally, I think that Mickie is just the master of working and talking at the same time. Thus everyone ends up talking to her and not working anymore. That, and she didn’t show up stoned or hung over – like, EVER.

I went to get new clothes for Jason while I was filling up the bathtub, no he was not in it, but I found his onsie in it! You take your eyes off them for one min...

Jumping at Christmas again

Last night Will called Tracie and while he was on the phone Jason took 5-7 steps all by himself. We were so amazed. He was holding his bottle and was walking from me to Will. It was crazy. I still think that he has a while before he realizes that he can do it himself, but at least we know that he can. How exciting!

It was also another year for trying to touch our heads on the roof. Mickie and my mom were not even close...

Will almost did it, but he was just a little shy of the ceiling...

Colton hit it and he cracked the dry wall , but made no dent that we can see...

And Jason well the picture explains all.
